Trying to keep up with others is both the cause of envy and the fruit of envy!
Envy unchecked will eventually destroy you
Eccl. 4:4- Then I observed that most people are motivated to success by their envy of their neighbours.
We can respond to temptation to envy others by trying to get what we don’t have or by allowing bitterness to take hold in our lives. Or we can patiently wait for God to act in our lives in the way that He considers (and is) best for us. And isn’t what God wants for us better than what we want for ourselves? The choice is yours.
Why envy sinners; all they can inherit is judgment. Desire what the Lord has in store for you.
Don’t fret because of evildoers; don’t envy the wicked. For evil people have no future; the light of the wicked will be snuffed out (Prov. 24:19-20).
Get your marching orders from God straight, and don’t worry about any of the other soldiers! Let God work out His plan in others just as He is working out His plan in you.
Peter turned around and saw behind them the disciple Jesus loved—the one who had leaned over to Jesus during supper and asked, “Lord, who will betray you?”
Peter asked Jesus, “What about him, Lord?” Jesus replied, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? As for you, follow me.” (John 21:20-22)
Rid yourself of envy. Avoid it like a plague – that’s what it is in reality.
Trust God to help you do just that.
