A Word of Encouragement  for Ministers

Dear Minister
What do you do when you see your unmarried spiritual daughter looking down in shame before you, because she is pregnant for an unbelieving man?

What do you do when you have to visit the welfare unit leader in your church at the police cell because he was involved in a fraudulent deal at his place of work?

What do you do when you run into your choir mistress at her place of work dressed in a scandalous and absolutely seductive manner?

What do you do when the wife of your assistant Pastor enters the church office with heavy bruises and claims that your protégé did that to her?

I have personally felt disappointed by the behaviour of some people I have tutored over the years. The same way I am glad I invested in some others because of how they turned out. I have had cases whereby I had to weep every time I remember the mess these children of mine got themselves into. I sometimes feel like a failure in my assignment.

However, I see things differently now.

Remember Prophet Samuel? He was really sad because of what Saul turned into that he mourned continually till God asked him to stop the mourning. It was time for a fresh catch. Saul was a forgotten case.

Dear minister, having invested so much in that person and he/she has decided to be a disappointment to heaven and you, what do you do?

Don’t put yourself down. Stop blaming yourself. Stop torturing yourself with the thought of failure. Stop feeling inadequate.

Instead, rise up from your place of mourning for that person. Don’t give up on God’s call over your life. Trust the Holy Spirit to help you through other tasks and ask God to grant you good success. Look for other recipients of God’s investment in your life and pour yourself into them.

Don’t forget to pray for the restoration of the one who has fallen and guide him/her back to the right path if he/she is ready for that.

There is still much work to be done. The harvest is plentiful. There is no time to waste.

Receive fresh grace for the assignment ahead from the Lord Jesus Christ!

It is well.
