Proclaim a Solemn Assembly

An invasion devastated ancient Judah, leaving the people plundered and vulnerable. The Prophet Joel likened the invasion to that of an army, a ruinous force of swarming locusts.

We too, have been invaded by a cloud of locusts. Eating deep into our lives and homes.

We have people suffering from hunger and inadequate care because of the economic situation of the land.

Many families feel overrun by evil. . . Evil of adultery, pornography, domestic violence, divorce, etc.

“They run to and fro in the city, they run on the wall; they climb into the houses, they enter at the windows like a thief” (Amos 2:9).

There is unrest and lack of joy in many homes and the nation at large.

Like Judah, we have been laid waste. And the prophet’s solution for them still works for the Church:

“Consecrate a fast, call a sacred assembly; gather. . . all the inhabitants into the house of the Lord!” (Amos 1:4)

It’s time to declare a solemn assembly and cry out for God to exterminate the locusts in our land and homes.

Perhaps God will withdraw His judgement and grant us favour in battle.

Perhaps God will bring healing to the walking-wounded generation of divorce and restore the years the locusts have eaten (Amos 2:20-25.

God has promised us deliverance:

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14 NLT)

Arise my people!

Call on your friends, family members and congregation to arise too.

Let’s humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God.

Let’s turn away from our ungodly ways.

Let’s cry unto God for mercy upon our homes and land.

All will be well by God’s grace!
