Early one morning, while I was getting some chores done. I intended listening to music, so I engaged my music playlist on my phone and I was surprised at the intro of the next audio. Because I was so sure, it was not part of it (I sort of having the arrangement of my playlist at heart so I can figure out the next π).

Okay, it was an audio message when I checked it and when I saw it, I wanted to change it since it was songs I wanted but I had a rethink, as I thought to myself “This is the time I should engage this since I might have a lengthened chore time”. The minister was speaking about the Holy Spirit and he spoke about the reason why we oftentimes read the Bible and it’s like we are just reading some boring textbook, while some other time we read and get a grasp of it at depth and some would read and all they can end up with is that “there is no God and all the supposed miracles we see all around (creation etc.) is just pure science or logic”. I could reckon with this and I got spurred to write on it.

First, let’s check some verses of the Bible.
1.
He has qualified us [making us sufficient] as ministers of a new covenant [of salvation through Christ], not of the letter [of a written code] but of the Spirit; for the letter [of the Law] kills [by revealing sin and demanding obedience], but the Spirit gives life.
2 CORINTHIANS 3:6 (AMP)
2.
But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor–Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.
JOHN 14:26 (AMP)
3.
At that time Jesus said, βI praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth [I openly and joyfully acknowledge Your great wisdom], that You have hidden these things [these spiritual truths] from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to infants [to new believers, to those seeking Godβs will and purpose].
MATTHEW 11:25 (AMP)
So looking at the Bible references stated; we can see that to them who read with mere intentions of just fulfilling all righteousness or as some rule we have to just follow and obey with no utmost desire to get to know the essence of God at depth, would miss out and fall into the category of him who reads and sees the Bible as some boring textbook or even end up concluding there is no God to him or her. But a man whose delight is to get to know his or her God will be exposed to this depth.

Just as our 3rd Bible reference states that He reveals it to the babes; and to the wise (to him who sees himself or herself as an Island of knowledge because they have read the Bible from cover to cover or whatever their reason might be, will not only miss out of the knowledge of the depth of God but will likewise miss out of so many promises that lie therein.

The Holy Spirit is our helper and with a sincere heart as that of a babe/infant (which connotes the thirsty heart) who believes he or she hasn’t achieved it all as the wise man would; will not only be exposed to the depth of His word beyond the letters but as well be a heart gracefully sought after because of the wisdom of God him or her bears.
Just as Jesus states in Matthews:
βBlessed [spiritually prosperous, happy, to be admired] are the poor in spirit [those devoid of spiritual arrogance, those who regard themselves as insignificant], for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [both now and forever].
MATTHEW 5:3 (AMP)

This was the first category of the beatitudes that Christ Jesus made mention of. So are you still wondering why you feel all high and dry even with the number of times you pick up the Bible to read it. “What am I doing wrong?” you ask yourself. Do check your motive!.

Why are you seeking Him?. Is it to be able to speak out in the heat of an argument or even be seen as one who is a scholar of the word?. Or are you really burning with love for God that you, in turn, want to get to know Him better each passing day?.
Imagine if your earthly lover’s life is detailed in a book (a manual of some sort), wouldn’t you go the extra mile to devote yourself to dig deep on it?.
Even a sentence that you get exposed to as you get to know more about him or her might seem all good and satisfying at first. But the love you have for him or her makes you crave for more on the long run. You would even want to sleep on it; wouldn’t you?.
And the delight you have of him or her makes you want to steadily get the message (the intent) being passed across through the manual.
So why don’t you allow your love and desire of Him (God) spur you to hunger more for His word – which exposes us to the depth of who He is: His nature and attributes, His essence, His inheritance and promises for us – in fact everything about Him!.

Let’s endeavor to go the extra mile with Him. And change our motive!. More definitely lies in Him than our eyes can see or have been told! (Ephesians 3:17-19 and Job 42:5-6; AMP)
Do have a pleasant weekend in Him. β€
