I started out with a Nokia 3310 back in the day. I have however used several brands (Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Blackberry, IPhone, etc) of phones after my first phone.

With each new phone being better than the previous one in terms of functions and general appeal.

Just imagine me still using the Nokia 3310 I used over twelve years ago today; in 2017.

…You must be looking at me with the side-eye right now.

The truth is that some of us are just like stagnant water.

It has been the same way with you since you were wise enough to know wrong from right.

You keep saying that you want to keep doing things today like it was done in 1922.

I remember my Android phone misbehaving at a point and I just didn’t understand what was going on with it. I complained to my husband and then he asked me when last I updated the apps and I just told him I couldn’t remember.

The truth is that I had been receiving notifications about available phone /app updates but I had ignored every single one.

Immediately I did the upgrades, my phone was up and running again.

When last did you run a system update on your spirit?

When last did you buy a book to nourish your spirit?

When last did you have a retreat solely to spend quality time with God?

When last did you even ask God about what he was saying “today”; forgetting that God is dynamic.

Upgrade your spiritual software dear brother/sister.

Even the devil keeps updating his schemes and styles.

You can’t operate on the level you did 10years ago.

May God grant you full understanding of this matter and help you to carry out the necessary upgrade to your outdated spiritual software in Jesus’ name.

Spark to Flames

Let’s take the fireplace as a case study:

You know, when you gather sticks to cook on a fireplace, for you to have a smooth cooking experience you have to continually shake off the ash from the sticks and push them further inside so that they can together give you better igniting power.

It is so with marriage too. Your marriage can get better no matter how long you have been married for or what your marriage looks like now.

Before You Ask…

Something happened to me last week which made me think deeply about the acts of God. As a matter of fact, that incidence brought to mind similar incidences that had happened to me on a recurring basis.

I got a message from someone I only met on Facebook saying she edits videos and would like to touch up my videos. Before I could even reply her message, she already downloaded one of my videos from YouTube and added a few touches to the video and by the time I could reply her message, the next thing she asked me was the means through which she could send the edited video back.

It was just a matter of minutes after I had made a repost of my last live video that I got a message from her that the edited video which I could upload in my YouTube channel was ready and she was going to send it.

I was actually dumbfounded.

That was how someone also sent me a message some months back saying he was led to be doing the graphics for the Worded Bible study group (the Whatsapp Group that I was inspired to create). This brother also joyfully took it upon himself to design all the posters used during the No Sex Outside Marriage campaign.

Those are just two recent instances.

While thinking, I remembered just how I would think about something I wanted and someone will just give me that thing.

All of these WITHOUT ASKING.

You see, God has you in mind.

He knows all you need.

And He says,

. . .But the desire of the righteous [for the blessings of God] will be granted. (PROVERBS 10:24b AMP)

Before you ask, He knows what you have in mind.

This is to encourage you that God loves you more than yourself.

And He cares about His vision in your hands more than you care about it.

He will never leave you stranded.

Know that Your Father in heaven is looking out for you always.

The Lord is your Shepherd; you shall not want. . .

No need for worries.

Be encouraged!

I feel strongly to lead a social media campaign for sexual purity themed NO SEX OUTSIDE MARRIAGE.

It is for both singles and married.

I will like to specially invite you to join me on this campaign that will kick off on the 3rd of April 2017.

Join your voice with mine as we tell the World God’s mandate and our decision to stay faithful and keep our bodies from defilement.

This epidemic called sexual immorality is taking over our world without remorse. Let’s stand up unapologetically and tell the world that we stand for purity- single and married alike.

This has been on my mind for several months and I believe it is time to embark on it.

All you need to do is write a poem, story, testimony, letter, pledge, song, tweet. . . anything to pass across the message that you stand against sex outside marriage and why.

. . . Perhaps we might save a few… Or many!

You can make it a once off thing or severally in the course of the week.

If you want, a poster will be designed for you with your picture to add to your campaign post. Please signify in the comments section so that you can know where to send your details. . . Few slots available.

In Due Season

The angel of the Lord appeared to Zechariah and told him as recorded in Luke 1:13, that his prayer had been heard.

This got me thinking. . .

I asked myself, “Which prayer exactly and when did he pray that prayer”.

I am led to assume that this priest, Zechariah was not praying for a child on the day the angel appeared to Him.

As a matter of inclination, I believe strongly that it might have been years since he had even stopped praying about their issue of barrenness.

His reaction to the angels message to him makes me believe that he had already given up on the matter. He probably had come to terms with his lack and had embraced his predicament with all sense of surrender to God’s will.

But God, decided it was now time to answer the prayers he had offered to God years before.

Know this: The prayers of the righteous do not disappear. They are being collected and kept each time you offer them. They are actually seeds.

The fact that you are not “seeing the results” of your prayers now does not mean that you are not being heard.

In due season, God will attend to your case.

He will open His book of remembrance to your life. God never forgets.

He only works with time. He is the master planner and His thoughts and ways may just not align with yours.

I encourage you not to feel discouraged.

Keep sowing the seeds of prayers. And continue watering them with your love for God.

Be completely sold out to Him. Keep your faith in Him ignited and it will be counted to you as righteousness.

Soon, your blessings will blossom.

And whether you believe it or not, you can’t stop God from doing what He has proposed when the time is right.

Four Things To Do When You Feel Discouraged

Discouragement usually knocks on our doors without prior notice. It visits the best of us without invitation.

Are you feeling discouraged right now?

You are not alone.

And there are things to overcome the distressing effects of discouragement.

I have highlighted four points in this article that will help you snap out of the valley of discouragement and set you on the mountain of optimism.

This write-up is inspired by these verses of the Scriptures.

Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God! Now I am deeply discouraged, but I will remember you— even from distant Mount Hermon, the source of the Jordan, from the land of Mount Mizar. (Psalms 42:5‭-‬6 NLT)

This will help you to deal with the issue right from the root.

For instance, if you are sad because you have no money in your bank account, there might be more to it than not just having enough money to your name. The real issue may be that your business is crumbling or that you need a job.

Be sincere with yourself as you identify what the issue is. You definitely need to know what the problem is so that you can profer a solution to it.

The first thing the Psalmist did was to ask himself why he was discouraged.

You should do the same.

That will help you keep your issues in perspective.

And then you will be open to ideas for resolving them.

The most likely result of discouragement is for you to be submerged in the pool of depression and wallow in self pity. When you are discouraged, you have the tendencies of thinking about all the ugly things that have happened to you. It all keeps escalating if you don’t take caution and you may be surprised at how low your heart can sink in sorrow.

Instead of focusing on the negatives, choose to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Remind yourself of the fact that all things work together for the good of those who love God.

Tell yourself that you will hope in God instead of concentrating on your issues and source of discouragement.

I know just how difficult it can be to praise God when everything in your life is going South.

But you will realize that once you can summon the courage to switch to the praise mood, you will be raised from the valley of depression.

This works all the time.

Decide to acknowledge God for who He is. Praise Him from the depths of you.

Focus on the fact that His plans for your life are perfect and He knows the right timing for your life.

A perfect time to bring to remembrance the glorious deeds of God in your life is when you are discouraged.

This will remind you of the fact that God is able to do all things and that there is nothing too hard for Him to do.

A good way to make this happen is to make a habit of journalling the things God does for you.

That will come handy when you are discouraged.

Listen to other people’s testimonies and key yourself into the ability of God to make it happen for you too.

Most importantly, make God’s Word your companion in these seasons of your life.

I hope you find these helpful.

Remember, it’s just a phase and this too shall pass.

Be encouraged!

When The Hands Of Man Are Tied

Daniel was an adorable young man. Daniel had proven himself to be diligent and disciplined. He was a leader par excellence. He was also skilled, wise and highly knowledgeable. Besides, he was good looking.

His boss, the king loved him.

Who wouldn’t love a man like that?

Well, sadly some people hated him despite all his good attributes probably due to jealousy or out of sheer insecurities or low self-esteem.

These haters conspired against Daniel. Even though they could not find any ‘sane’ reason to put him in trouble they orchestrated a web to catch him anyway.

They knew that he loved His God wholeheartedly and they took advantage of that.

They tricked the undiscerning king into making a law forbidding anyone from praying to any god or petitioning any man asides the king. They sure worked on the king’s emotions by making him feel so important.

Of course Daniel had a priority. And that was his relationship with His God. He wasn’t going to let any law of man make him miss out of the Beautiful fellowship he constantly enjoys with His maker.

This definitely wasn’t the first time he would make this kind of choice. He had chosen not to eat the King’s meat and defile himself doing that.

Yes, his haters caught him like they envisioned.

The king had no choice but to command that his favourite man be thrown into the lions’ den.

The king wanted to help Daniel but he couldn’t.

Yes, his hands were tied.

But God made a way.

I tell you today friend, God is going to show up for you when it seems you are at your wit’s end.

He is an ever present help in trouble.

He is with you in the midst of that storm.

Man may disappoint you but God will never.

Trust Him wholeheartedly from today.

Stop seeking help from men on the hills (influential people). Their hands get tied sometimes too.

Instead, lift up your eyes unto God Almighty; the maker of heaven and earth who is able to do exceedingly abundantly far above all you could ever ask or think.

His hands are never tied and can never be.

May the peace of God that passes all human reasoning be your portion Now and forever!

When You Meet Roadblocks In Your Way

Few days to the deadline I had set to get three new books ready towards the end of last year, the unexpected happened to me.

That was the first time I would have that kind of experience that left me practically in shock. . .

I had worked late into the early hours of the day that this happened.

I was set to continue my work on my system late that morning but I got the shock of my life when the notebook just wouldn’t boot.

. . . The system had obviously crashed.

My plan was to do a backup after the few corrections I had to make that day but the time never came.

My head kept spinning around. Was it my academic papers waiting to be submitted for publication or my archives of pictures that I had not backed up that I had to think about?

But what got me the most at that point were my books. Where was I supposed to start from?

But you know what? After the first ten to fifteen minutes of worrying about it, I just felt a kind of peace that I couldn’t explain. I was calm to the extent that I was beginning to wonder if I was okay.

My husband tried to check what was wrong later that day. He tried troubleshooting the system and punched in some commands but the system didn’t budge.

All I just kept saying was, “It is well”.

After several attempts without success, he had to pull the system apart the next day to get the hard disk out and see if he could salvage the situation. I even joked about how my notebook that I had loved for so long was undergoing surgery.

To the glory of God he was able to retrieve some files including the books. Even though most of the files were corrupted, I still thank God for His peace when I needed it most.

I felt it strongly in my spirit that the enemy was not in any way happy with what I was doing and he was trying his antics to discourage me from forging ahead with my mission.

I don’t know who this is for but peradventure you are set on achieving a mission and you have hit a roadblock on your way.

Don’t be discouraged.

The fact that it is a God given vision doesn’t mean it will be hitch free.

Be encouraged by the fact that God will never leave you stranded.

He might allow you to encounter a few hiccups in your plans but he will surely give you victory. In the end, you become a stronger vessel.

He is the all-sufficient God; He is sufficient for you.

He is able and will bulldoze the obstacles from your way.

You must know that it is normal for the enemy to always want to fight against God-given visions.

When the enemy hits you below the belt, retreat and gather strength to try again.

You just have to keep pushing.

The idea is never to give up.

Keep this in mind as you journey through this year.
