What does it mean for one to be in distress?.
Distress means a state of adversity (Danger, affliction, or need).
Looking at the aforementioned, we all can relate to this, because we have been in a state of need at some point or the other. When one is in distress, you are really not sure of who to call out to for help. You have numerous options running through your mind all at the same time. But then pondering on the who, you may eventually be left with a few or even just one person you feel will relate with what you are going through at that time. Or even understand the thoughts you are battling within your heart.
So yes, are you in distress?. Are you in need or currently facing a troubling time in your life or even facing adversity at your place of work etc?. Then, the good news is, there is someone you and I can call onto in our time of distress whose attention is never out of reach or His presence ever miles away from us.

David whose life I admire a lot knew this truth and understood that it’s best for one to get back to one’s source at such trying time. Yes, telling someone about it (a friend, one’s spouse, relative, etc.) helps to clear your mind but the resolve truly comes from God. In Him, we don’t have to struggle through the many options our confidant(s) may give or suggest to us. Instead, we have a narrowed down path – the way!. Not numerous ways where we then become clueless about which option to try out first. No!, in Him we have the way – it’s focused!.

So yes, looking at the verse stated below, David was in a state of distress and look at His response to it.
Why are you in despair, O my soul? Why have you become restless and disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.
Psalms 42:11 (AMP)
This verse comes to my mind most of the time. The truth is, it’s not easy for one to just maintain calm all through our trying times. Sometimes we could get all caught up in worrying and even getting to the state where we feel hopeless rather than being hopeful. But the blessing is in us knowing that when our hearts or thoughts wander off at such times, we can refocus our gaze on our one true source – God.

Just like David did in 1 Samuel 30:6:
Further, David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, for all of them were embittered, each man for his sons and daughters. But David felt strengthened and encouraged in the Lord his God.
1 Samuel 30:6 (AMP)
David knew that God had a record of always coming through for him whenever he called upon Him and because of that he knew he had just one option: To choose God over again even when it might have felt like “God, why did you let this happen in the first place”.
But then he knew God was still good and faithful to His words. So David inquired of God still and true to His records, God came through again.
Do read through these verses:
So David recovered all that the Amalekites had taken and rescued his two wives.
1 Samuel 30:18 (AMP)
And,
Nothing of theirs was missing whether small or great, sons or daughters, spoil or anything that had been taken; David recovered it all.
1 Samuel 30:19 (AMP)
And,
So David captured all the flocks and herds [which the enemy had], and [the people] drove those animals before him and said, βThis is Davidβs spoil.β
1 Samuel 30:20 (AMP)

Now Imagine if David chose to blame God instead and didn’t acknowledge that He was still the same faithful God he had encountered all this while. Imagine if David chose the blame game and left God out of the equation.
I believe he wouldn’t have had any courage in him to chase after the Amalekites, not to mention recovering all and even getting the spoils.
So what will your posture be henceforth?

Would you choose God even when it seems insane to?. Like “why would a good God allow this in the first place”?.
Smiles, I wish I had that answer but then His way is God’s way, not yours and not mine. And His intention for you and I is still always good. Don’t forget that – Jeremiah 29:11
Do have a pleasant week ahead. πΈ
